we bought a little house and we're ready to make it our new home. Follow us as we plan, prepare and attack this renovation.

Found the floors!

Eric's latest project has been to pull up all the linoleum that is throughout the house.  Each floor had it's own challenges and is back breaking work.  Hannah and Jakob's bedrooms and the upstair's hallway. Some of the linoleum pulled up easy but the underlay was finicky.

Then it was on to the main floor....
Eric would like to talk to the old floor installer and ask him just what was he thinking!

It may look like he's taking a break, but when we attacked this floor you could only last so long in one position. Sitting, kneeling (one knee, two knees or alternate), and finally laying down.

Eric was in the basement checking out the flooring and we saw noted in pencil  Northern Birch

Almost done and then we get a quote from the flooring guy.

We thought it would be helpful if we had a sleepover at the house, so Eric and I could both work after the kids went to bed. HAH!  We picked the coldest weekend so far (-1C) and slept over in a house with no heat. They stayed up later than usual, and had a blast!  What an adventure...me, not so much. Oh, and we didn't get any extra work done...just got extra cold.

Happy 42nd birthday weekend to me!
And when the weather warmed up, the kids played outside and entertained themselves, letting us get more done... but the entertaining does come with an 'itchy' factor:

Lastly, electrical is being put in and the small bedroom is gutted and ready to be turned into the bathroom.
